Paul Wyatt Biography
Paul Wyatt and his wife Doreen live in the Lantern District of Dana Point. They make this beautiful beach town their home to because of the quality of life it offers. Access to the ocean they love, family-orientated neighborhoods and small-town charm make it the perfect place to enjoy life.
During Paul’s daily runs the Save Dana Point signs in front of homes caught his attention. He had already researched the 2008 Town Center Plan and liked what was happening on the PCH and Del Prado even if the number of palm trees and the arch were a bit over enthusiastic. Further digging uncovered the September 2015 parking ordinances the city council had voted in which changed the plan. But it was the decision by the City Council to put Measure I on the ballot that shocked him into jumping in with both feet to ensure that this misleading initiative would be defeated. His digging into the facts and going door-to-door informing residents was critical to the getting Measure H passed and Measure I defeated.
Paul spent 45 years in high-tech, 30 as an engineering executive, and the last 9 in clean-tech. Most recently he was Vice President of Software Engineering at Liquid Robotics responsible for designing, building and deploying ocean-going robots to monitor the world’s oceans. Working with oceanographers to better monitor and measure water quality, environmental agencies to detect oil leaks and pollution run-off, and coast guards to limit over-fishing and police marine protected areas were the parts of the job that Paul enjoyed most. Prior to Liquid Robotics, Paul spent 6 years launching and building a solar energy company, Recurrent Energy, where he was responsible for operating and maintaining commercial and utility-scale solar power plants around the world. He also managed customer service and information technology and designed the systems that allowed these plants to be operated remotely. Both these companies are successful thriving businesses today.
